Seasoning your smithey

Like a classic car or a well-tended garden, your Smithey gives back what you put into it.

SEASONING METHODS

SEASONING ON THE STOVETOP

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. To a clean, dry, Smithey apply a very thin layer of seasoning oil or a dime-sized amount of a high-smoke-point oil, covering the entire cooking surface.
  2. Place the lightly oiled pan over medium-high heat until it begins to smoke.
  3. Repeat this process with another thin layer of oil. Be careful—your pan will be hot. Turn off the heat, and you're done!

SEASONING IN THE OVEN

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. To a clean, dry, Smithey apply a very thin layer of seasoning oil or a dime-sized amount of a high-smoke-point oil, covering the entire cooking surface.
  2. Place the lightly oiled pan in a 450°F oven for one hour.
  3. Turn off your oven and let your Smithey cool completely.
